Since our early teens, we have been fascinated by true crime. From why criminals commit the crimes they do, to the intricate and often complex police investigations that bring them to justice. We would watch every documentary we could find, read every book we could get our hands on; completely absorbed by worlds and lives that were very often far removed from our own.
Alice studied Law at University and after a few years of working, went back to education to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology looking at various aspects of criminality and the justice system.
We had talked for a while about maybe starting a podcast or blog looking at different true crime cases and in 2020 when the world went into lockdown, like a lot of people, we had a lot more free time on our hands.
After doing some looking around, we decided to try YouTube. We were incredibly lucky that a very close friend had experience in video editing and was able to help us find our style and bring our ideas to life when we weren’t really sure what we were doing. We were also lucky to know a fantastic music producer who was able to make us our introduction and backing music, capturing the atmosphere we wanted to make perfectly.
We soon learned how to edit our videos and it was such a learning curve. Learning how to make thumbnails, how to make intros, how to use iMovie (which later graduated to Final Cut Pro X), how to get the sound levels correct, how to add effects etc.
We look back at our older videos and it’s so exciting to see how far we’ve come and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
